I have no one

John 5:7 ”…Sir, I have no one…someone else goes ahead of me”

In this story, we read about a miraculous pool called Bethesda which would get stirred by an angel from time to time. Once the angel had stirred the water, whoever got in first was miraculously healed! By the pool, lay many who were blind, lame and paralyzed. Now Jesus happened to be there one day and He focused on a man who had been ill for thirty eight long years.

When Jesus asked him "do you want to get well?", his response was "I have no one to help me into the pool when the water is stirred. While I am trying to get in, someone else goes down ahead of me."

The paralyzed man lay there thirty eight long years watching people step ahead of him, getting into the pool and being healed. All along he had hoped that someone would offer him help. Many people in the world today live with these two frustrations . 1. The hopeless feeling of having no one to help and support them. 2. The depression of seeing people around them making progress, but not themselves.

Have you been living in self pity, depression, or with a feeling of worthlessness? Take your focus of who wasn't there for you. Stop spending energy comparing yourself with others. Turn your attention to Jesus, who longs to heal you and help you. Remember, there are people around who genuinely care for you. You are not alone. Jesus spoke a word – ‘"Get up! Pick up your mat and walk." At once the man was cured; he picked up his mat and walked.’(John 5: 8,9)

Focus on Jesus. He is enough. Reach out for medical, practical and spiritual help. Don't believe the lie that you have no one.
