Some say all you need is a dream. Perhaps. Sometimes, dreams die.
Caleb had a dream. His dream was to take possession of Hebron someday. Things didn’t exactly go according to plan.
❌People were against the dream
“I brought Moses back a report according to my convictions, but my fellow Israelites who went up with me made the hearts of the people melt in fear” Joshua 14:7,8. What do you do when the very people who are meant to support your dream turn against the dream?
❌There was a severe delay to the dream
“He has kept me alive for forty-five years since the time he said this to Moses, while Israel moved about in the wilderness. So here I am today, eighty-five years old!” Joshua 14:10. What do you do when you end up having to wait a long time for the dream - in Caleb’s case - for forty-five years ?
Well the answer is not really about what you do - but what you have and who you are.
Caleb isn't like the others...because he has faith in me, I will allow him to cross into Canaan, and his descendants will settle there.. Numbers 14:24 (CEV)
Caleb, because he has a different spirit and has followed me fully, I will bring into the land into which he went, and his descendants shall possess it. Numbers 14:24 (ESV)
✔️A different spirit.
✔️A continuous, conscious, revelation awareness of God.
✔️A heart full of faith.
That is what Caleb had and who he was.
That’s what you have. That is who you are. That is what your DNA is.
Caleb doesn’t
❌Feel sorry for himself - no self pity
❌Lay blame on his fellow Israelites - no resentment
❌Give up - no inconsistency
That is who you are. That is what your DNA is.
In fact, if Caleb was wired that way in the old covenant, your wiring is even better! You are under better promises and under a better covenant.
But what’s the point of seeing a dream fulfilled when you are eighty-five years old - after waiting for forty-five years?
“Joshua blessed Caleb son of Jephunneh and gave him Hebron as his inheritance. Hebron has belonged to Caleb ever since. Then the land had rest from war. “ Joshua 14:13-15. Caleb got Hebron, then the land had rest from war! He fought battles others didn’t have to fight. The point is Caleb left a legacy.
✔️Dreams that are born out of faith leave a legacy.
Some say all you need is a dream. Perhaps. Sometimes, dreams can die.
Over forty years of waiting should have killed Caleb’s dream. It should have killed his faith. It should have killed his fight.
A different spirit.
A continuous, conscious, revelation awareness of God.
A heart full of faith.
🔥You can’t kill that. Some dreams don't die.🔥
